Message from the Executive Director
Set in natural beauty and close to the sacred Ganges, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh was strategically located to address regional imbalances in healthcare services, research, and training. It was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna’s first phase and supported to be an autonomous body by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012. The first batch of 50 MBBS and BSc Nursing students enrolled in 2012 while outpatient and inpatient services started in mid-2013.
Since its inception AIIMS Rishikesh has evolutionized into an institute of national importance with execution of various courses like MBBS, BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing, MD/MS/MDS, MCh(6 years), DM/MCH, PDCC, MPH, Medical MSc, Ph.D and numerous medical & allied courses. These activities are mentored by more than 200 faculty members. Along growing footfall in routine outpatient clinics, 94 specialized clinics have been added. Similarly, from a 200 bedded inpatient facility in 2013, it has now 960 bed capacity. 24x7x365 Emergency services have now bifurcated into separate Trauma Surgery and Emergency Medicine services. Official work is tracked through the e-governance system in a bid to limit the paper-based system.
AIIMS Rishikesh is not just a hospital, but a hub of innovation and an outreach healthcare center. Our telemedicine network has established multiple spokes, extending expert consultation to underserved regions. We have also pioneered Heli-ambulance and drone-based healthcare services, ensuring that timely and life-saving interventions reach even the most remote areas of Uttarakhand.
In addition, the Department of AYUSH continues to play a vital role by promoting integrative and holistic approaches to health, complementing modern medicine with traditional systems of healing. As we grow, our mission remains clear to provide world-class healthcare, train future healthcare leaders, and drive cutting-edge research that benefits society at large.
