Healthy children are the forerunners of tomorrow’s prosperous nation. A healthy child is not only a child free from diseases but a child who is growing, developing and enjoying the essence of childhood at fullest for his/her potential.
We, the Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS, Rishikesh, aim at providing state of art health care to the children upto 18 years of age. Apart from offering treatment for common as well as uncommon and complicated disorders seen in children. We give due emphasis on the importance of promotive environment and productive education in upbringing of children. We teach and train undergraduate (MBBS) student in pediatrics speciality as a part of their curriculum
Facilities, services and future plans
At the outset, we offer outpatient consultation for the disorders seen in children upto 18 years of age. Indoor facility for non-critical childhood disease has been started since 2014. In 2015 two hundred twenty two (222) children were admitted in indoor facility while in 2016 till now fifty eight (58) children have been admitted. Currently neonatal services have facility of level II care. Tertiary care of neonate including preterm neonatal care facility will be made operational in near future. Pediatrics TB and Asthma clinic is operational on every Wednesday to provide dedicated Pediatric Pulmonology services. Till now more than hundred children with asthma & TB have been enrolled in Pediatrics Pulmonology clinic. Pediatric neurology, epilepsy clinic and well baby clinic will be started soon. In future, we aim to develop a state of art pediatric centre providing advanced services in the field of various pediatric subspecialties like neonatology, emergency and intensive care, pediatric neurology, infectious diseases, hemat-oncology, Pulmonology and endocrinology etc. Postgraduate training course in pediatrics (MD) will be started in next couple of years. We strive to adhere to and advocate the principles of evidence based medicine in patient care and medical education. We also look forward to promote high quality research in order to improve the quality of care for the children in India and beyond.
